PYH Families,

We hope that everyone is hanging in there and finding the positives during these uncertain times.  We are a strong community and all in this together!  Thank you to all essential workers in our community, especially our first responders and healthcare workers.  We are blessed to have such great role models around us.  In this social distancing environment, we have seen an increase in zoom calls, social media challenges, online healthy habit resources, drive thru birthday parties, and quality family time.  Keep it up!

Please read below as we have several important updates for everyone.

In preparation for the 2020-2021 season, we will launch of our registration on April 1st.  As done in the past, this will be the same day USA Hockey opens its registration, which will be required to sign up with PYH.  Registration be open April 1st through May 14th for all groups.  All players will be waitlisted after May 14th if they register after that date.  The only exception will be Mites and U6, as those groups will remain open through the fall.  We understand that many of our families may have questions about any financial commitment at this time.  Please reach out to the PYH Board if you wish to discuss any hardships (in confidence).

Pembroke Youth Hockey offers you the following:

There are so many hockey choices out there for your players, including club and private teams, school hockey, and other town offerings. Our goal at Pembroke Youth Hockey is to provide a safe, growth oriented, family friendly and stable environment for your players to learn the great sport of hockey through an affordable and enjoyable experience.  We are inclusive to everyone, regardless of age, experience, or skill level.  Winning is secondary at PYH, with an extra emphasis on growth and development on and off the ice.

If looking at other programs, our most important advice is to ask the following questions: Are they flexible on cost and aware of what is happening in this environment?  Who are the coaches and directors?  What makes up their character?  What is the development plan? Practice:Games ratio? Ideally >3:1. Is the strategy all about the wins?  Or to get the child ready for the next year on and off the ice?  It should always be about development, fun, getting prepared for the next level, and learning life lessons.  Be careful of playing too many games, taking too many trips, and not focusing on skills.  Lastly, does my kid benefit socially?

We do have a slight tuition increase next year due to increased costs associated with ice costs, league fees, and payment processing changes.  Our tuition will still be the LOWEST on the South Shore for everything we offer.  For full season registrations, we will also be including the $100 fee for your player’s raffle ticket for our $10K Cash prize raffle ticket fundraiser, which you can sell on your own and transfer to someone else if you choose (girls with multiple registrations will have their costs adjusted to only 1 ticket after registration).

2020-2021 Tuition rates (full season rate includes your $100 raffle ticket):

• $750 ½ Season U19 Girls & Y18 Midgets

• $250 Goalie ½ Season U19 Girls & Y18 Midgets

• $1475 U12 Girls, U10 Girls, U14 Girls, Y14 Bantam, Y12 Peewee, Y10 Squirts

• $500 Goalie U12 Girls, U10 Girls, U14 Girls, Y14 Bantam, Y12 Peewee, Y10 Squirts, Y8 Mites

• $1325 Y8 Mites

• $800 U6 Mighty Mites

***In order to receive the Goalie Discount, all goalies must attend all tryout sessions at their age level. Goalies must also have their own gear and commit to playing the position all season.

The board recently voted and approved to lower our 2020-2021 registration fee from $300 to $100.  This fee is nonrefundable.  We also approved to extend our payment plan duration to a 10 month payment plan for our full season players, and a 7 month payment plan for our half season players.  This payment plan duration extension is for the 2020-2021 season only.  Payment plans start May 15th, 2020.  We will refund all funds minus the $100 fee if you choose not to play for PYH on or before Sept 4thPayment schedules are listed on the PYH website.

Our tryout dates are unaffected by CV19 and any current rink closures.  Midgets and U19 Girls will tryout on a Sunday mid to late August.  U10/U12/U14 Girls will tryout August 31st.  Mites, Squirts, Peewees, and Bantams will tryout Sept 2nd and 3rd.  Teams will be announced Sept 4th.  As a reminder, our tryouts are later than everyone else because we encourage taking a break from hockey, playing other sports, and acknowledge physical growth over the summer months.  We also place an importance on the 2019-2020 season coach’s evaluations of players (due April 1st) for future team placement. Tryout schedule is listed on the PYH website.

Family discount reminder.  Discounts are applied to families that have 3 or more registrations in our program.  Discounts are applied at 50% from oldest child to youngest child.  Only one discount per child.  If you already receive a goalie discount, that child is not eligible for a family discount.

A new USA Hockey Registration (IMR #) is mandatory to register with PYH.  There is a cost for this.  It is free for U6.  On or after April 1st, please go to the USA Hockey website and obtain your new #.  This provides additional benefits and is also your annual on the ice insurance policy.  Write your IMR # down and enter it into your PYH profile during the registration process.  PYH will reimburse all coaches for their IMR # cost once all annual coaching requirements are completed.

We are updating our jerseys this summer as a majority of the players in the program have jerseys that are 2 years old.  We are moving to a navy and a white jersey for all players.  We will have an online purchase program in May/June.  This is a separate cost from tuition.  Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

Anyone interested in coaching (new or experienced), must complete a coaching application found here on the PYH website, and send to PYH Coaching Coordinator Ryan Macdonald via email ( ).  We would really like to have more female coaching candidates.

We are also always looking for more volunteers.  We cannot be successful without the help of our members.  Everyone on the board should have someone to share responsibilities within their role.  All open positions are underlined on the PYH Board and additional Roles webpage.

Optional Sunday Summer Half Ice 3v3s are currently scheduled April 26th through August 30th, 2020 @ Rink 2.  Schedule: 8:00 AM (Mites / U6), 9:10 AM (Squirts / U10), 10:20 AM (PeeWee / U12 / U14), 11:30 AM (Bantam).  There is no cost to anyone registered with PYH for the 2020-2021 season.  Also, there is no coaching during 3v3s, only dropping pucks.  We encourage fun & creativity all summer if you choose to attend.

Thank you again for your continued commitment to our program, your feedback and ideas. We hope to see you again for the upcoming season.  If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the PYH Board directly or via email at info@pembroketitansyouth.org.

Thank you,
